The annual license expires on January 30 of each year. There is a payment grace period until April 30, but the renewal paperwork is now overdue.
The City of Duluth welcomes your business to our community. Every business in the City must apply for an Occupational Tax Certificate and renew it annually.
Hot Off The Press:
In an effort to provide a more user-friendly experience and a new digital platform, our licensing division (Occupational Tax/Business License and Alcohol Licensing) will be undergoing a software conversion. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive online experience for new and existing business owners. We anticipate service to be available by the 2021 Renewal season.
As a reminder, a courtesy extension for 2020 renewals was granted to businesses through June 30, 2020. Any business now operating without a current license is in violation of City ordinances.
Email questions to the Occupational Tax Officer at email@example.com or the Alcohol Tax Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We thank you in advance for your patience!

To help you navigate the forms, use your mouse to hover over a field for tips on what type of information to fill in. Once complete, the forms need to be printed, signed and notarized* (see above) prior to submission by mail or in person. Directions to City Hall are here.
